Don’t be Robbed Blind by Content Thieves
Posted by Debo Hobo under: Side Notes ~ Ramblings .
I am testing out this Feed Footer Word Press Plugin that I talked briefly about on Sunday . The RSS Feed Footer-Word Press Plugin is suppose to leave a message that only shows up on the feed in the footer. So, when a scraper puts content from a blogger’s RSS reader on thier blog basically it warns the reader that the content they are reading is violating copyright laws and requests that they contact the blog it was stollen from.
We all take the time to create our post and would love for someone to link to them and share them with the world. But we also expect to get the credit due for our work. My next step is to contact Google because not only are the thieves stealing my content, but they are also imbedding google ads in it and making money off of it. I’m not sure if anything will come of this step but it is worth the effort.
Has your content been used without your permission or without the proper credit?

A couple of high traffic blogs have used my content, but tweaked it in such a way not to give credit (sometimes looking up the original source) that way you can’t really do anything about it. I thinks it’s really tired and disrespectful…I’ve taken a couple of those I’m speaking of off my blogroll for repeated offenses.

Looks like the evil virus of the Digital Desperadoes is spreading. This virus made me sick last month and I almost retired my blogging boots indefinitely.
Will Google help? I know Technorati doesn’t help since their service has not tracked every blog link or reaction for over a month and their support doesn’t answer their eMails.
The two last posts of October discussed some solutions to expose the Digital Desperadoes and adding a Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 License below the title for protection from Digital Desperadoes and scrapers.
Did you add the Feed Footer to Blogger?

Yes, I added the feed footer and it shows up on the Feed at the bottom. I’ll lool into the Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 License below the title for protection from Digital Desperadoes and scrapers.

Thanks for the video and advice, Debo Hobo. I have been burned a couple of times too.
