Must See Places for 2008

Posted by Debo Hobo under: Vacations; Weekend Getaways; Road Trip; Travel-General; US-Destinations; International-Destinations .

The world’s next travel hot spots. Get there now, before the crowds do.

tunisia4.jpgTunisia-Forty percent of this North African nation is enveloped in arid Sahara desert, the remainder is blanketed by fertile soil and hemmed in by over 600 miles of Mediterranean coastline. Tunisia has garnered a lot of attention over the centuries from some of the world’s greatest civilizations. Visit the ruins of the ancient Phoenician city of Carthage and historic sites like the coliseum at El Jem. Or relax and rejuvenate at one of several beach resorts; venture through the Sahara on camelback or 4×4; or camp out in the desert in luxurious linen tents. Indeed, if there’s one place on Earth that packs the ultimate vacation into its borders–what with culture, beaches, adventure travel, and luxury camping–this is it.

Other places to visit in 2008 are

* Bhutan-“Land of the Thunder Dragon” has long held steadfast to its rich culture and Buddhist heritage

* Greenland- The midnight sun practically guarantees encounters with reindeer, seals, and narwhals

* Lisbon-worth a visit not only for its affordability–a huge plus when considering the anemic exchange rate of the U.S. dollar against the Euro these days

* Mozambique-It’s been a long haul for this former Portuguese colony, but there’s no question that the nation is a rising star in the travel world.

* New Orleans-the nation’s most-beloved festivals are getting under way in the first part of the year (Mardi Gras in February and Jazz Fest in late April and early May)

* Okanagan Valley-the area makes for a great wine-country getaway; Cedar Creek and Kettle Valley are two of the vineyards there.

* Quito-new attractions ranging from botanical gardens to cultural heritage museums, and the opening of several luxury hotels

* Slovenia-full of the same kind of medieval towns and quaint villages that made the Czech Republic–namely Prague–a household name, but its charms can be enjoyed for a fraction of the price of its trail-blazing predecessor

* Tobago-relatively free of tourists and overdevelopment–for now

Bhutan sounds like a wonderful place to be. The nickname “Land of the Thunder Dragons” is already attracting me to go there one day.

Hi folks thanks for your comments. I found Tunisia to be of interest because it would apprear the television show LOST is going to center some of its story line around this area so I am excited to perhaps see a little bit of it via the tele.

Hi thanks for stopping by chuck- I’ve heard a lot of great things about Nigeria mainly from people that have moved here to the states from there. I would’t mind visiting Africa period whether it be Nigeria or anyone of its many beautiful countries.

Are you familiar ith Africa?
