American Airlines canceled more than 1,000 flights

American Airlines canceled more than 1,000 flights Wednesday, more than one-third of its schedule, as it spent a second straight day inspecting the wiring on some of its jets.

Well, that’s a really scary thought…..
If they don’t get a handle on this real soon, it is going to be a long summer for those traveling. Again, they kept putting this off…
This was totally irresponsible. Those passengers deserved better. They should have phased in this measure, because even if the planes are affected, they are not going to fall out of the sky on the next flight. I hate it for those who were stranded. Once again, corporate America only cares about its own
Coolio-You are absolutely correct. I wonder what a good hustle would be to get around this issue. Any ideas?
I would go ahead and draft a letter to the president of the airlines, and cc it to their customer service division and also to news reporting agencies, those consumer advocates that love to air the dirty laundry that companies try to sweep under the rug. Then, if they do lose your bag or damage it, fire of those letters and make them certified. Call the company and record the conversation, then post it online for the world to see. Send personal e-mails to the big blog owners to get them to highlight your story/video, and it will get Stumbled and Dugg in no time. Then eventually end up on TV telling your story, and watch the apologies and incentives come through (first class accommodations, free flights, free membership into Crown Rooms and other exclusive clubs, additional frequent flyer miles, etc). I would also have in mind what you want from them in the form of compensation so you aren’t just hoping for something (but be reasonable).
Either that, or they will keep up with your bag! But I do agree with some people who say you need to charge by the weight of the person versus the bag, because a small person can have two small bags (understandable, they are small), but a large person may not only take up two seats, but they have a lot of luggage to accommodate their larger frame. That should have the side effect of getting more Americans to lose weight, and being more fair to other people. That would be my hustle.
Maybe its time to upgrade to a better carrier, though people often state Northwest being Northworst I’ve flown with them multiple times to Europe and back and never had any delays…
I don’t travel much on American Airlines. Nobody likes flight cancelations that upset their schedule. In general I don’t have good experience with a few airlines. Last night my flight from Cancun was delayed for more than an hour which caused me a missed connection. I was assured that my husband and I were being booked on a later connection but guess what. My husband had a seat and I did not. I was told that the flight was overbooked and if there is no volunteer to give up his/her seat, I would have to wait for the following day’s flight with no compensation. I was not happy. What kind of answer. Anyway, one guy gave up his seat and I had his seat. When I boarded the airplane, the seat next to my husband was empty and another seat was empty on the emergency exit row.
I never travel much on American Airlines. Nobody likes flight cancelations. It cause inconvenience to the passengers. I do not have good experience with a few airlines that caused me missed connections. It was frustrating.

Actually…I don’t find them that bad especially domestic flights. I find there are more delays on international flights.
With regards the present fiasco…you tend to give American the benefit of the doubt over many other carriers where safety is concerned but seems that assumption has no legs…
