Visitors and participants at this year’s Olympic Games in Beijing will be able to visit the novel World Botanic Gardens Exhibition to find out more about “Homes for plants, Gardens for humans”.
The purpose of the exhibition is to show people from around the world the beauty and value of biodiversity and the ongoing efforts of over 80 botanic gardens from more than 25 countries to preserve our natural plant heritage.
Don’t see much smog in these photos. Click on the speaker in the top left corner of the slide show for sound.
This is the culmination of several months of hard work and planning by the organizers: the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Botanic Gardens Popular Network; Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Committee; and Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI). And not forgetting, the participating botanic gardens who have provided the photographs and text used in the exhibition posters.
The exhibition will be displayed at the Science and Technology Park near the Olympic Village, Beijing, China from 8 July to 8 September 2008.
Visitors of all ages are welcome and admission is free.

Those are cool- but my husband is anti tree sculpting. We had this perfectly manicured small Christmas tree out front- now it looks like Tree Gone Wild… he says it looks better- I don’t think so!

Michelle: Let the tree be! Let the tree release its inborn spirit to be the tree it always aspired to be!

Hey Debo Hobo,
I’ve always found topiary designs kinda freaky and scary. I can appreciate the art, but there’s just something strange about greenery in the shape of “stuff,’ lol.
I’m with your husband Michelle!

I first saw elaborate topiaries at Disney and have been fascinated ever since. I however have not mustard the courage to hack away at my own shrubs and bushes.

I only had care of a Topiary ONCE…
Headless giraffes just look like deformed benches. With tails.
