Meet The Cranky Flier

Posted by Debo Hobo under: Featured Blogs .

I was looking high and low for something to write about today and I happened upon today’s featured blog via Technorati. Technorati is a great jump off point when I am having a block. I can’t say writers’ block because well, I’m not a writer. Just a blogger with more and more free time on her hands thanks to the outrages cost of travel these days.

Cheap Flights at westjet.com!The Crankyflier.com is the brain child of Brett Snyder who grew up absolutely in love with planes, their timetables and LAX. In March 2008 The Cranky Flier was listed as #29 of The World’s 50 Most Powerful Blogs according to The Observer (UK).

The article that brought me to The Cranky Flier was about Alaska Air and the latest release of Its Low Fare Calculator. The article provides an extensive comparison between Alaska Air’s new release and of those already available through other airlines such as JetBlue Virgin Air, British Air and Southwest.

Here’s what The Observer (UK) had to say about Brett’s blog:

There’s nowhere to hide for airlines these days. Not with self-confessed ‘airline dork’ Brett Snyder, aka Cranky Flier, keeping tabs on their progress. He’s moved on from spending his childhood birthdays in airport hotels, face pressed against the window watching the planes come in, and turned his attention to reporting on the state of airlines. His CV is crammed with various US airline jobs, which gives him the insider knowledge to cast his expert eye over everything from the recent 777 emergency landing at Heathrow to spiraling baggage handling costs and the distribution of air miles to ‘virtual assistants’.

This blog aspires to one day be ranked half as well as the Cranky Flier not only in the travel niche but in the overall blogshpere. I am glad to have found this blog to share with our readers.

You know what would be a cool name for a blog-
The Cranky Hobo … actually I think that’s what my kids call me when I come home empty handed from thrifting.

I like the new look- green is good, it’s pleasant and the header is cool- overall I like it a lot.

I enjoy thrifting as well and I too am cranky when I can’t find anything or items are clearly over priced.

So, what did you end up using for the threaded comments? Looks like it’s working. Mostly.

Great mods to the blog! I’m loving the Green… it makes the MaxBlogPress not so glaring at the top as well. Plus, the photos are just great.

Thanks so much for all the good posts!
