Did You Subscribe To That RSS Feed?

feed_icon.pngWhy Is Subscribing to RSS Important?

According to one of the more wildly successful blogs on the web a RSS reader is more important than a reader that drops by through the use of a search engine. Here is what he had to say…

“A RSS reader is far more important than a reader who drops by from a search engine or a link from another site. If you think of your blog as a magazine, your RSS readers are like the magazine subscribers and people who drop by your site from other sources are like newsstand sales.”

Yikes! I guess when you have 29000+ readers like him you can think of them as expendable. Debo Hobo dot Com feels that every single one of our readers regardless of the source is important. The readers are what keep blogs churning out content day after day. Even make money blogs require readers to keep their stats up so they can squeeze every last penny our of their advertisers.

Is Subscribing to Our RSS Feed Quick and Easy?

Subscribing to Debo Hobo dot Com is so quick and simple even a caveman could do it. Simply click on the orange icon at the top section of the side bar. See it up there on the right, no look up; up, there you go right there. Voila you are presented with a bevy of ways to get our post sent to your reader right out of the oven and on your plate, piping hot and fresh.

You may even prefer to Get Debo Hobo dot Com by email rather than reading our posts through your feed readers. That’s not a problem. All you have to do is select that option when subscribing and verify your email address when the confirmation is sent.

Subscribing to feeds is so much more convenient particularly if you read a lot of blogs on a daily basis. Having a reader service is like having all your favorite blog’s content rolled up into one website. The feeds sit there waiting for you to read them. What could be more simple?

How Many Others Have Already Subscribed?

The answer to that is located at the top of the blog. Do you see it there under the title? It is updated automatically daily.

One schools of thought on displaying this number is that a blogger shouldn’t display these numbers. At least not until there are a minimum of 100 subscribers. They say that basically people are followers and won’t subscribe unless others do so first.

It is my thought that if I let my readers know my goal, they will help meet and maintain that goal. I definitely think that is a more positive way of looking at it. Don’t you think so?

What Is The Goal?

The goal is to increase the number of readers from where it currently is to 500+. Wow, that is a big jump! But I feel confident it can be done. Why? Because I believe in my readers, and because I have been reading a few blogs out there that focus on good writing and solid content. My readers will on find well crafted content going forward

Here is a super video that explains the who, what, why and how of RSS Feed and its value to readers everyday.

So in closing I ask that if you haven’t done so already please subscribe the my RSS feed

I guess I’m missing something. I don’t see where he says anything about RSS readers being expendable.

No he doesn’t refer to his RSS readers as expendable, however he does value them far more than the person that finds him through a search engine or may even have him bookmarked in their browser. Those are the readers I feel he views as expendable. He clearly states that the RSS readers are his number one priority and that’s fine, and perhaps that is the way big business looks at it, however here at this blog all readers are valuable.
