Arianna Huffinton is the co-creator of Huffington Post. Her blog is one of the political pulse points of the 2088 Elections. WAIT!!!! This is not a political post. Phew! Thought I had lost you for a minute there.
Ariana was on the Daily Show with John Stewart hocking her book- just like everyone else. But, the difference is I just may actually make this purchase. The book and the topic she is discussing on The Daily Show is about blogging with Passion. The book is titled ‘ The Huffington Post Complete Guide to Blogging’.
She talks about how blogging is not about perfection, but rather blogging is about intimacy, immediacy, transparency and sharing your thoughts the way you share them with friends.
I agree with what she is saying. Ever since I strayed off the ‘niche’ path so to speak I am enjoying blogging a lot more. Being a free spirited creature this style is working out much better for me. Travel related posts will return, when I can afford to travel again, but for now I am running through the wet grass with my shoes off and liking it. Are you blogging with passion?

Ditch the niche!
Actually, it would be to “leash the niche” if you wanted to rhyme properly.

LOL. Oh, I totally can appreciate this post. And to think that before I used to be afraid because I didn’t belong to a niche. I am always thankful these days that I can blog about anything at any time. And you know, even those with a niche could find a way to as well if they just were willing to get a little creative about it.

I used to worry about not being a niche blogger. But I adore blogging about whatever interests me. So I guess you could say I’m passionate about being a random blogger.

I don’t have one special topic. I’m interested in many things. So I write about whatever is on my mind. I’m more of an infrequent writer, but I love to read blogs.

I just like to blog- I like my niche too- it doesn’t bother me because it’s basically a lifestyle and if I attach the words “old” or “vintage” or even “antique” on my blog I can basically blog about anything.
See it works like this…
Check Out Paris Hilton’s Tired Old A**
Blast From The Past When Vintage Britney Shaves of All Her Old Hair
George Bush Becomes an Antique After Leaving Office
Vintage Recipe: Turn Old Potatoes and Spam into Stew
See basically I can write about celebrities, politics- recipes you name it- my niche is limitless.
I iz passionate about old stuff. YAY

I prefer the word “fun” to passion. (in a blogging sense anyway)
Many times I have heard people say “I need to post something” or “I am burnt out with blogging”. Unless it is your goal to become rich blogging, these things should never happen. You will never get rich blogging anyway! I know there are some very popular sites that do, but they are swarmed because of there massive page rank and publicity. None of them are less than 2 years old either. Personally, I think most of the popular sites are just re-hashed news with a personal opinion next to it. I can find that reading the paper on the bus.
I like having the ability to publish something that fits my mood. Staying to a topic would be really hard for me personally. I have the most fun in the comments AFTER a post
You touched on page rank at my blog. Most do not know that only the past 6 months of links are still viable. Now if we all just linked to each other in Summer and Winter every year!! …. the thing is, all traffic from search engines is pointless to me, because I never “see” them. The only people that ever comment are other bloggers.

Cat man there you go layin’ those heavy thoughts down again.
I started this blog to ‘make money’, but after burn out after burn out I am in it for community and the freedom of speech of it all. And true the comments are the funnest of part of all, and Twitter has had a profound effect on comments lately as well. Just look at dcrblogs(Dan) he blew up my comments yesterday, 140 character at a time.

I just had to come in from my e-mail subscription to your blog to say…Great Post!
I usually blog with passion because writing is basically cathartic for me. I must admit that sometimes I don’t blog with passion in an effort to keep up the frequency or address a popular topic.
I needed to read this topic at this point in time and thanks to you (and Arianna), I have my groove back!

I started blogging not knowing what to focus on and with each passing day, the passion just grew to the point where I think I couldn’t live a day without it anymore. I enjoy every bit of it and I will only stop when the passion runs out of my system. Good question indeed. Passion is the key. Period.
