Cheap Airfare Boots-n-All

Posted by Debo Hobo under: SR; Travel-General.

I always get so excited when I find travel related sites that provide useful information that travelers of all experience levels can benefit from.

Cheapticketlinks.com is a travel site that has links to just about every travel search engine and low fare deal out there. You will find loads of links to both domestic and international fares for hotel, Cheap airline tickets, cruises and car rentals etc. Conveniently located on this site is a search form similar to that found on other travel search engine and is powered by BootsnAll Network.

BootsnAll is and I’ll quote them directly from their site here,

We are the ultimate resource for independent travelers, combining a kick-ass community of travelers - all of whom are ready and willing to share their travel wisdom, tips and stories - with user-friendly booking tools so you can go from dreaming about the perfect trip, to learning about what to do when you’re there, to booking everything you’ll need within minutes.

You’ll find a blog on this site as well that goes into detail on great places to travel along with money saving coupon codes.

Another great offering on this site is a place to search for tickets to sporting events, concerts, the theater and more. For instance I searched for sporting event tickets in Texas. The search provided results ranging from the expected baseball tickets all the way to rodeo and wrestling. You definitely have to specify a city or you will get a listing for the entire state that you’ve selected.

Cheapticketlinks.com- another easy and convenient travel resource….

Nuns at the beach with Priest?

Posted by Debo Hobo under: News; International-Destinations.

inflatable-church.jpg
The Italians have taken it to a whole new level-we won’t even have to leave the beach.

Fortunately mass is pretty much the same no matter where you go. Basically the only thing that changes is the language. Mass is performed from a Missalette so all one has to do is find the local Catholic Church in their destination city. But, will there be anyone there to perform the mass this summer?

Catholic nuns and priests in Italy are following their flocks to the beach this summer, establishing an inflatable church and a beach-convent in the sands to lure sunbathers. Nuns from the convents in the cities near Naples have moved into beach cabins. This relocation makes them readily available to beach goers.

The 98 foot-long blow-up church — staffed by priests ready to take confession — will debut on Saturday on the Adriatic coast in the Molise region, an organizer said. There are two alters for the purpose of saying the rosary and praying which are housed under a tent alongside the inflatable church.

Will this inflatable church be mistaken by children as a bounce house? Will it garner the reverence that a traditional church commands? If it looks anything like this image, this may not be the greatest idea to get the flock back in the church during the summer season, but it is worth a try.

WiFi and fly with Delta Airlines

Posted by Debo Hobo under: Consumer News; News.

Atom Entertainment (formerly AtomShockwave)Delta Airlines will be the first to offer Internet Access on its flight. They announced on August 5 that the service will be available on some jets next month with 75 planes in it fleet completed by years end. They report that all 330 domestic planes will receive the installation by summer 2009. The planes to receive the first installation are their MD-88 jets.

Delta’s service will be provided by Aircell LLC, a closely held Colorado company that specializes in communications for private jets. Aircell paid $31.3 million at a Federal Communications Commission auction in 2006 to take over radio frequency once used for expensive air-phone service and reallocate it to Internet service for jets. Aircell’s network called Gogo will not allow voice service over the internet, so even if a passenger is able to hack into their phone connection, phone conversations will be banned by Delta.

It won’t be free of course we can expect to see the same type of fees that we would pay at a hotel or internet cafe–$9.95 for a flight lasting less than three hours and $12.95 for a longer flight. Service will not be offered for international flights.

I look forward to filling the hours wasted in-flight with internet surfing, but don’t want to be subjected to another person’s porn. What regulations will Delta have in place? What will be deemed acceptable internet viewing while on the plane?

Hump Day with Paris Hilton responding to John McCain

Posted by Debo Hobo under: News; Humor; Hump Day Video.

According to the esteemed Paris Hilton, Maui is the best place to fly to, to get a tan. She let this tip slip as she was responding to that ridiculous attack ad that the wrinkly old gray haired dude released last week.

Paris points out some really good ideas and perhaps the white house does need a new coat of paint, maybe not pink though.

Not all destinations require air travel to reach

The United States has a great number of roadside attractions–places that are within easy reach of interstate and major highways.

If your interest is in space and aviation, you can visit a good number of aviation attractions within driving distance of Dayton, Ohio. The Greater Dayton area is a National Aviation Heritage Area. You can fly or drive to Dayton, find a nice hotel, and then drive to your destinations.

The Aviation Trail, Inc. Visitor Center & Museum has exhibits highlighting the lives of the Wright brothers, plus the Aviation Trail Parachute Museum which showcases a history of parachutes with equipment and other relics.

The National Museum of the United States Air Force has more than 300 aircraft as part of its exhibit. Special galleries also display the history of the Air Force in World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars and the Cold War.

The National Aviation Hall of Fame, which is housed within the same complex as the National Museum of the United States Air Force, highlights the lives of many famous aviators, such as Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Chuck Yeager and astronauts John Glenn and Neil Armstrong.

Though a bit farther outside the Dayton area, the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum is a can’t-miss attraction for visitors interested in man’s history in space. Located in Wapakoneta, Ohio just off I-75, the museum features items from Armstrong’s time in space, including a moon rock collected in 1969.

There are also a number of other attractions in and around the Dayton area, which you can find by visiting the National Aviation Heritage Area website. Be sure to check the open hours before visiting, and note that some attractions may be open by appointment only.
